Here are 10 questions I use to test my heart about money.
- Would your satisfaction in life be greater if your income significantly increased?
- Would a demotion at work deeply attack your self-worth?
- Do you view giving as an obligation or as a joyful opportunity?
- Are you annual expenses significantly different from your friends who have a similar income but no real connection with Christ?
- Do you feel a responsibility to use the resources given to you to make a difference for Christ?
- Do you feel superior or inferior to others because of your job title or income?
- Would you do more for others if you had more?
- Do you assume people who make more money than you live an easier life?
- Do you recognize that everything you have is a gift form God which you do not deserve?
- If offered $10 million to denounce Christ, would you take the money?

Man, you’re really talking about ME here. I’ve been studying what God says about money and I’m finding that my words and what I THINK I believe aren’t lined up with my online banking activities. I spent this weekend working on changing that. Pondering this piece – along with the video – and answering the questions you pose – on paper and during my quiet time will help me along this journey that I know will be painful and humbling. Thank you, Kevin, for your leadership and your willingness to share what’s on your heart and your mind. Even – check that – ESPECIALLY WHEN – your inspired words are unpopular and sometimes painful. Being a minister who preaches the inspired word of God isn’t a popularity contest, is it? Still, these are the words many of us crave. Thank you again, brother.
